ARCHIVED - More weather warnings as downpours and strong winds hit Andalusia: weekend forecast Dec 8-11
This Saturday afternoon will be the last dry spell for almost everyone in Andalusia for the foreseeable future
Andalusia weather warnings, Thursday December 8
It has been a thoroughly wet week in many parts of Andalusia, but until now the official weather alerts for heavy rainfall have been limited to Huelva and Cadiz in the region’s west. From Thursday December 8, though, these yellow warnings for accumulated precipitation of up to 20mm in one hour have been extended to Seville, Cordoba, Malaga, the Costa de Granada and even as far as parts of Jaén, while the alert has been upgraded to orange level in the coast of Huelva.
There are also warnings in place from the Meteorological Agency, Aemet, for high south-southwesterly winds around Huelva, Cadiz and the Strait of Gibraltar of between 50 and 61kmh (gale force 7).
Almeria province should stay relatively dry, but not for long. Friday December 9 brings rain for the whole autonomous community of Andalusia, and thunderstorms. The entire coastline of southern Spain is on yellow alert on Friday, but by Saturday 10 it will only be Almeria that has alerts remaining in place for gale force 7 winds along the coast and waves of up to 3 metres high.

It will rain on Saturday morning, through all of Sunday and continuously into next week in the entire region. So be sure to make the most of those few hours this Saturday afternoon when the sun peeks through! It might be a while before we see it again…
