Murcia Corvera Airport records busiest month of 2025 so far
International travellers continue to dominate traffic as July flights rise nearly 9%

The Region of Murcia International Airport, better known as Corvera, welcomed 123,775 passengers in July, marking a 2.9% increase compared to the same month last year. It was also the airport’s busiest month of 2025 so far, with flights climbing 8.5% to a total of 893 operations.
International travel continues to be the lifeblood of the airport, with 110,337 passengers flying to and from destinations abroad in July alone, which is a healthy 6.8% jump from 2024.
Domestic travel, however, saw another dip, with 13,354 passengers representing a fairly significant 19% drop from last year.
From January through to the end of July, Corvera handled 528,048 passengers, an overall rise of 2% compared to the same period in 2024. Flight operations also ticked upward, with 4,223 movements so far this year, up 5.7% year-on-year.
While these figures show modest but steady progress, they remain far below the soaring numbers seen in 2007 at the old San Javier airport, which recorded almost 234,000 passengers in July of that year alone and a cumulative 1.38 million by the end of July.
Across the wider Aena network, which includes 46 Spanish airports, two heliports, London Luton Airport and 17 airports in Brazil, July 2025 saw 38.47 million passengers, up 2.7% from last year.
Aircraft movements reached 319,591, a 0.9% rise, while cargo operations recorded a sharp 10.1% jump with 130,508 tonnes transported.
Corvera’s numbers may not yet rival its predecessor’s peak years, but the steady upward trend hints at a growing role for the airport in connecting the Region of Murcia to the rest of Europe.
