Spain's national rail operator Renfe is launching a new travel option between Almeria and Madrid from next Monday, February 20, with a connection in Granada.

Passengers can already purchase integrated tickets for the new Madrid-Almería connection that combines an AVE high-speed train departing from Atocha at 7.35am with a Media Distancia (MD) Granada-Almería train arriving in the Almería capital at 1.32pm.

The combined service increases the daily frequency between Spain's capital and Almeria to three; a direct Intercity (departing from Atocha Cercanías at 8.19am) and two AVE+MD links with a connection in Granada, departing from Atocha at 7.35am and at 2.35pm.

It also increases the daily options from Madrid to Guadix to three, where the new service will arrive at 12.19am.

The new Madrid-Almería link will be Renfe's fourth Media Distancia frequency between Almería and Granada, with departures in both directions in the morning.

From Monday, an MD train will start running daily at 6.20am, facilitating trips between different Gádor, Gérgal and Fiñana in Almeria and Guadix and Iználloz in Granada. From Granada, a daily frequency is added, departing at 11.10am with an intermediate stop in Guadix.

Integrated tickets are sold as one, guaranteeing the connection of two trains. By choosing the origin and destination, the sales system offers travellers all the combinations (direct or connecting trains) with the overall journey time and a discount.
