New IKEA store to open in Granada at the end of July
The Swedish furniture giant has invested 11.3 million euros in the city store in Andalucia

A new IKEA store will open its doors in Granada's Nevada Shopping centre on July 27, the Swedish furniture and home accessories giant's "first city outlet in Andalucia".
The multinational firm has ploughed 11.3 million euros into the 7,300m2 store and will employ around 80 newly recruited members of staff.
Half of the floor space will be used for displaying household items and the store will boast a huge 1,800m2 warehouse that is large enough to "ensure stock at all times and delivery times as tight as possible".
In fact, it will be larger than the urban stores in Madrid located on Calle Goya and in Las Rozas.
In a statement, Ikea Spain said: "Visitors will have up to 2,120 items available to buy and take away on the spot and will be able to access the full assortment online or on request in the store. Orders will be delivered the next day at home or can be picked up at the existing collection point in the same shopping centre.
"In order for the experience to be as complete as possible, the new centre will also have a restaurant space, called 'Swedish Deli', offering Swedish cuisine to eat in or to take away."
The opening in Granada, along with a more 'traditional' store in Almería at the beginning of July, is part of IKEA's "commitment to accessibility at a national level and its expansion strategy, in which the Andalusian market, along with Madrid and Catalan, is a priority focus".
In fact, of the 300 million euros that IKEA plans to invest in expansion projects until 2025 – doubling the firm's initial forecast – 116 million euros will be invested in Andalucia.
This means that four out of every 10 million the company invests will be spent the region.
"In recent years, IKEA has launched different physical formats to reach new areas and, therefore, reach more consumers. And this growth is reflected in employment: so far this year, more than 230 people have joined the IKEA ranks in Andalusia, and now almost 2,000 people work in the 13 stores in the region," added the company.
