Paying taxes just got simpler in Andalucía with Bizum now on the scene
Tap your phone to settle bills up to €1,500 through the regional government's online platform
Good news if you're juggling taxes and prefer a quick phone payment. The Junta de Andalucía has rolled out Bizum as a new way to pay taxes, fines, and other public fees on their online platform for tax and other revenue payments. It's all part of their push to make things easier, as Minister Carolina España puts it: "The integration of Bizum into the Electronic Platform represents another step towards our objective of bringing the Administration closer to citizens, using the same digital payment methods that are already part of their daily lives, and eliminating unnecessary barriers to fulfilling their obligations."
The service launched around December 2025, though official plans pointed to Thursday 6 November 2025 under Article 28 of the Order of 22 March 2024. It sits alongside options like direct debit, credit or debit cards, and bank transfers (added back in July 2024). No need for a specific bank anymore, just a valid mobile number linked to your Bizum account. You can use it right there on the platform, even filing your self-assessment at the same time as paying.
There's a cap though: payments up to €1,500 only. Keep an eye on your bank's own rules or Bizum's daily and monthly limits, as they might block bigger or repeated transactions. España says this fits their bigger goal of matching public services to how Andalusians actually live: "reinforcing its commitment to administrative simplification, the digitalization of public services, and improving the relationship between citizens and businesses with the regional government."
Fancy giving it a go? Here's the step-by-step, much like paying by card:
- Pick Bizum as your method on the Payment and Submission Platform.
- Add any needed documents, then enter your valid mobile number to unlock the payment button.
- The system redirects you (or hit 'Continue' if not); check your number and press 'Continue with purchase'.
- Confirm in your banking app.
- Grab your payment slip (form 909) with the amount, method, and NRC code.
If you need to back out, just hit 'Cancellation'. Simple as that, and no more hassle with going to the bank directly. For more detailed information download the PDF here.
For expats and locals alike, it's a handy update that brings tax time into the 21st century without the hassle.
