ARCHIVED - Robert de Niro is opening a luxury hotel in Seville
The 5-star hotel in the centre of Seville is due to open this spring
The company Nobu Hospitality, founded by actor Robert de Niro, film producer Meir Teper, and chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has announced that they will open a new hotel this spring in Seville’s central Plaza de San Francisco, just behind the Ayuntamiento.
The luxury hotel will be opened across three separate, newly refurbished buildings located at numbers 11 and 12 of Plaza de San Francisco and 36 Calle Álvarez Quintero, which are being adapted as a 5-star hotel with 27 rooms, a spa, gym, cafeteria and restaurant.
During the restoration work, builders made one of the greatest discoveries of recent years in Seville – an original Roman wall structure that was unearthed after excavating to a maximum depth of 5.5 metres. This archaeological find is being integrated into the new hotel’s courtyard.Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, said, “We are delighted to partner with Millennium Hospitality Real Estate on our third hotel and restaurant, following the San Sebastian and Madrid announcements, and to open our sixth Spanish hotel for the brand. Seville is a charming and historic city that has become a must-visit destination for many of our Nobu guests and we are confident that the brand will be embraced by local residents and international travellers alike.”
The company says of the city, “Famous for its charming traditional Sevillian architecture, cobblestone streets, fiery flamenco dancing, pioneering tapas bars and the distinctive orange blossom scent that permeates the city, Seville is the perfect addition to Nobu Hotel’s growing portfolio. In addition to attracting top Spanish clients and discerning international travellers, the city hosts the famous Feria de Abril, a colourful celebration that takes place after Easter, when the streets come alive for a week of festivities.”
