ARCHIVED - Rockslide on the Canteras to La Azohia road
This is not the first time drivers have been warned of dangerous rockfalls in this area

The Emergency Services 112 of the Region of Murcia have warned motorists to drive very carefully on the stretch of the E-22 road between Canteras and La Azohía, Cartagena after a rockslide left obstructions late last night, at around 9pm on Tuesday January 24.
Road maintenance workers have been informed, they say. Thankfully, nobody was injured.
Last March, rockslides in this area caused a large chunk of the road to fall away, and the Regional
government spent 3 months and over 800,000 euros to repair it, reinforcing the road and the retaining wall to prevent more rockslides like this from happening.

With freezing temperatures and icy conditions in many parts of the Region this week, drivers are recommended to take extra care on the roads and even avoid some of the highest altitude parts, such parts of as the Sierra Espuña, due to snow.
