Sausages containing needles found on Costa del Sol dog walking route
Several animals have needed urgent veterinary treatment after eating the dangerous items in Rincón de la Victoria, Málaga
Over the past few days, worrying instances of sausages studded with needles have emerged on the Rincón de la Victoria seafront in Málaga province. Several dogs have fallen prey to these dangerous treats, necessitating urgent veterinary care after consuming them.
Health service sources revealed that dozens of similar episodes have taken place along this popular walking route, resulting in victims swallowing the hazardous objects on the La Cala del Moral promenade.
One eagle-eyed owner spotted the contaminated meat right before her dog swallowed the needle and she was able to take the offending item to the authorities as proof. Since then, many other walkers have come forward to report similar findings.
Not content with needles, whoever has planted these deadly treats has also dotted the neighbourhood with other pieces of meat containing suspicious looking pellets that the authorities believe could be toxic to animals.
Locals have taken to social media to share photos of the offending foodstuffs to raise awareness in the community. Local police officers are looking in to the matter but in the meantime, owners should remain vigilant, supervise their furry companions at all times and prevent them from eating any food scraps found on the path.
