Six German tourists arrested for Mallorca gang rape
The brutal attack took place in the Spanish island resort of Playa de Palma
The National Police in Mallorca arrested five Germans, all aged around 20, at dawn on Thursday July 13 for the alleged gang rape of a female tourist of the same nationality. Just a few hours later, a sixth suspect was picked up for questioning.
The horrific sexual attack took place in a hotel room in Playa de Palma, a popular destination for German holidaymakers.
According to police sources, the latest detainee had consensual sex with the girl but a short time later his five friends entered the room and raped her.
The number of violent crimes committed by tourists in Spain appears to have skyrocketed this summer and hardly a day goes by without a horrendous police report. Earlier this week, a Colombian citizen was arrested in Valencia for the attempted rape of an Irish woman.
And last week, Mallorca police intercepted a British man at the airport while he was frantically trying to board a flight home to the UK. The tourist had allegedly raped his girlfriend in the bathroom of their hotel room before attempting to flee the country.
