Spain's best Christmas lights of 2025
From giant trees to glowing streets, this year’s most spectacular festive displays have arrived

Christmas has officially taken over Spain and the country is glowing. From enormous illuminated trees to themed routes and waterfront shows, cities and towns are dressing up more than ever to welcome the festive season. According to the ranking compiled by eBooking these are the places that shine the brightest in 2025.
1. Vigo, Galicia
Vigo takes the top spot once again with a display that continues to grow in size and brilliance every year. The city experienced a few technical hiccups on opening night but still secured the gold medal thanks to a towering 45 metre Christmas tree lit with 100,000 LEDs, a giant snowman, festive baubles, elves and an enormous present. Nearly 12 million LED lights will brighten four hundred and sixty streets and squares across the city.
Vigo is usually the first place in Spain to switch on its Christmas lights but this year it was beaten to the punch by Estepa, the Sevillian town famous for its mantecados which flicked the switch early on 7 November.
Even so Vigo remains the country’s undisputed champion of festive lights.
2. Barcelona
Barcelona has really stepped up its Christmas spirit in 2025 with more decorated streets and squares than ever before. The city now offers 126 kilometres of illuminated routes including the newly lit Via Laietana after its renovation. There are five themed routes for visitors who want to explore the lights on foot and evening boat trips on the Golondrina allow you to admire the displays from the sea. Passeig de Gràcia Carrer d’Aragó Avinguda Diagonal and the port are among the many areas shining brightly this year.
3. Madrid
Madrid claims third place with an impressive display featuring more than 13 million LED lights. The capital will spread its decorations across 240 locations and will debut fresh designs on Gran Vía along with a sunrise-inspired display on Calle Goya. Festive favourites return as well including the giant Christmas tree at the iconic intersection of Alcalá and Gran Vía, the walk through candle installation at Nuevos Ministerios and the illuminated angels in Plaza de Carlos V.
4. Sevilla
Sevilla has decorated more than 300 streets this year with a mix of Christmas and religious motifs including traditional Nativity scenes. One of the main attractions for 2025 is a forest of 32 large illuminated trees installed along Avenida de la Constitución, which is expected to be a major draw for visitors. The city will also bring back its spectacular projection show over the Guadalquivir River known as Navigalia, which is displayed from the Muelle de la Sal.
5. Badalona, Catalonia
Badalona closes the ranking and continues to make a serious push to become one of Spain’s most iconic Christmas destinations, even positioning itself as a friendly rival to Vigo. The city shines with more than 1 million lights spread across 127 streets and 17 large decorative structures. Its enormous fir tree in Plaça President Tarradellas is once again the star of the show, illuminated by more than 100,000 LED lights and accompanied by a sound and light performance. Badalona also introduces a new mapping show called Santa’s Candy Factory, which will be projected at the Escorxador.
