The Guardia Civil in Nerja (Malaga) have arrested an Irishman who had an international search and arrest warrant issued against him by a court in Dublin, Ireland on charges of sexual assault of minors and possession of child pornography.

After becoming aware of the international warrant issued by the authorities, the Civil Guards carried out actions in the town of Nerja which resulted in the location of the fugitive and his arrest on Thursday October 27, 2022.

The man, aged 70, had been living in Nerja for five years, thus avoiding criminal proceedings against him in his home country, the Guardia Civil said in a statement.

The detainee, following instructions from the Central Court of Instruction number 5 of the Audiencia Nacional, has been placed at the disposal of the head of Court number 2 of Torrox, who has ordered his imprisonment.
