As has become the norm in recent years the restrictions on access to the regional park of Calblanque, comprising part of the eastern coastline of the municipality of Cartagena, have come into force to coincide with the holidays of Semana Santa.
The measures came into force on Thursday April 14 as efforts continue to protect the native flora and fauna of the park by limiting motor vehicle access to those heading for the beaches of Calblanque, and the number of vehicles inside the protected area at any one time will be limited to 291 (the capacity of the car parking areas) on the following dates:
April 14, 15, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30
May 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29
June 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29 and 30
July 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8
August 29, 30 and 31
September 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25
October 1, 2, 8 and 9
At the height of summer on the remaining 55 days between June 25 and August 28, the park will be completely closed to private vehicles and car parking will be replaced by a bus service to the beach areas from Los Belones and other nearby points. The only exception will be between 8.00 and 9.00 in the morning at the Atochar car park.
