The three irregular migrants were travelling with others aboard a small boat on the Alboran sea near Almeria in the Andalucia region.
Maritime Rescue workers were forced to evacuate three seriously injured men from a boat in Almeria this morning on Monday, May 17, in another incident relating to the continuous flow of migrants trying to reach Spain by sea from North Africa.
Emergency workers carried out a helicopter evacuation at around 3 am after a Guardia Civil patrol boat rescued a group of migrants who had been travelling in a small patera, the name given to the type of boat commonly used by migrants.
Once on board the helicopter, the three people were flown to Almeria airport, where ambulances were waiting to transfer them to the University of Torrecardenas hospital.
According to health sources, one of the men underwent surgery, while the other two remain in an observation unit as doctors wait to see how their injuries progress.
No information has been given about how the migrants sustained their injuries.
Marine rescue also rescued another 11 other irregular migrants from the sea as part of the interception of several boats carrying 65 irregular immigrants off the Almeria coastline on Saturday, May 15.
