Twelve arrested in massive drug network take-down in San Javier and San Pedro
Cocaine, heroin and 250 marijuana plants were discovered during raids of five different Murcia properties
The Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal network dealing drugs at street level in San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, with a dozen people now under investigation, including two minors.
Officers searched five properties being used as points of sale for cocaine, heroin, hashish, marijuana and nitrous oxide, and also uncovered a plantation of 250 marijuana plants during the operation.
The investigation was led by the ROCA Team in Torrevieja and began after an earlier raid on a marijuana crop led officers to this wider network involved in distributing and selling drugs at retail level. Evidence gathered from that discovery, along with several surveillance operations, confirmed that the group was using several addresses as sales points.
The investigation eventually spread to San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, where agents identified five properties acting as the nerve centres of the organisation. Investigators found the group had a clear hierarchy, with those at the top controlling the purchase, sale and distribution of cocaine and marijuana in particular.
During the searches, officers seized varying quantities of cocaine, heroin, hashish, marijuana and nitrous oxide, more commonly known as laughing gas, along with cash and equipment used for measuring out and selling the drugs.
As well as the 250 marijuana plants, agents found growing equipment including air extractors, filters, lights and fans. They also seized precision scales, a handwritten note listing sums of money, pepper spray, a homemade baton, mobile phones and €1,151 in cash.
Twelve people were investigated in total, two of them minors, and their cases have been passed to the Public Prosecutor's Office. Five of those investigated, including both minors, were released after questioning at the police station, while the remaining seven appeared before a judge and were released on bail.
