ARCHIVED - Two earthquakes on the border of Murcia and Andalusia this morning
The two earthquakes came within less than half an hour of each other, shaking the towns of Pulpí, Águilas and Lorca

Two earthquakes took place in the early hours of this morning, Thursday April 21, near Águilas and Lorca in Murcia, with their epicentre in the municipality of Pulpí in Almeria, according to Spain’s National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The tremors, measuring 2.4 and 2.8 on the Richter scale, occurred within half an hour of each other.
The first quake, which was the smaller of the two at magnitude 2.4, was recorded at 4.41am. Barely 25 minutes later, at 5.06am, another, stronger tremor (magnitude 2.8) shook the same point, between the town of Pulpí in Almería and the municipality of Águilas in Murcia.
In the Region of Murcia small tremors are common and sometimes there are several per week, but rarely exceed two degrees of magnitude on the Richter scale. Just two weeks ago, however, a larger earthquake of magnitude 3.1 shook Molina de Segura and Murcia.
