Two Irish tourists injured in knife-point mugging in Nerja
Two men were attacked by a teenage gang after a night out, suffering serious facial injuries

The pair were walking back to their hotel after a night out in the popular seaside town, around 50 kilometres east of Málaga, when they were approached by a group of young locals. According to local media reports, the attackers threatened the men with a knife before repeatedly punching and kicking them, then fled the scene with stolen mobile phones and cash.
The incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday August 2, has been described as particularly violent. It was reported that traces of blood were left on a nearby residential building.
Local residents alerted the authorities after hearing screams and shouting from the street. Both victims were later taken to hospital, where they were treated for multiple facial fractures and other injuries.
The suspects are understood to include four young people from the area, one of whom is believed to be a minor. As yet, it is not clear whether any arrests have been made.
Nerja is a well-known destination for both Spanish and international tourists, especially in the summer months, and violent incidents like this remain relatively rare. A local judge has opened a formal investigation into the case. Meanwhile, the Guardia Civil in Málaga has yet to issue an official statement.
