United Airlines confirms Malaga-New York flight schedule for 2024
Tickets between the Costa del Sol and the Big Apple are already on sale for next summer
American carrier United Airlines has given tourists a reason to celebrate this week with the announcement that its direct flight between Newark Airport in New York and Malaga Airport will definitely be resuming for the duration of the 2024 summer season.
This year, Seville and Malaga went head-to-head in a battle to win the prize US destination but the Costa del Sol eventually won out, and between June 1 and September 28, the North American airline operated 52 flights consisting of a total of 17,000 seats to and from the Big Apple.
Now, the exciting news is that this international route will resume on May 30, 2024 and eager passengers can already book their flights.
Last month, Malaga’s Tourism Minister Arturo Bernal said that his department hopes to establish the Costa del Sol-New York flights as a year-round operation by 2025 but for now at least, the summer 2024 commitment “represents a very important step forward” in that objective.
Between May and the end of September next year, United Airline will fly direct to its New York hub three times a week, on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Across Spain, United has operated in a total of five cities since 1991 – more than any other US carrier.
In all, the company will fly to 37 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East next summer and the expansion looks set to continue.
“We have just placed a firm order for 50 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 60 additional Airbus A321s, which in combination with previous orders is expected to add 800 new aircraft to our fleet by 2032,” United wrote on social media platform X.
