Until January 10 Playmobil exhibition in Molina de Segura perfect for children
The exhibition is made up of over 6,000 pieces of playmobil
The exhibition ‘Molina de Segura, territorio Playmobil’ – one of the largest private collections in the world, with more than 6,000 pieces – can be seen in the Municipal Exhibition Hall El Jardín with free entry for the enjoyment of children and adults.
The exhibition, organised by the Molina de Segura Town Council, can be visited until January 10, from Monday to Sunday, from 10.30am to 1pm, and from 5.30pm to 8pm.
The Playmobil exhibition displays one of the largest collections of these famous toys in the world, the result of 40 years of collecting. The collectors are a group of 12 friends from Valencia, Alicante, Almería, Madrid and Salamanca, all of them lovers of history and model making.
The Mayor of Molina, José Ángel Alfonso, has stated that this exhibition “is the fruit of many months of work and meetings, which we have held from the Mayor’s Office itself, with the intention of offering the citizens of Molina and the entire Region of Murcia a unique and unrepeatable event.”
This free activity has been designed for the enjoyment of all members of the family. Many of the pieces on display have been out of manufacture for many years and have been purchased at auctions in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and more. In addition, the collectors do not customise any of the pieces; they are all original pieces.
The pieces were set up over a period of three days by seven model enthusiasts who are researching each of the periods on display (the costumes and the traditions, for example, how the Romans attacked in tortoise formations, etc., or how the stones of the pyramids were transported along the Nile).
The pieces are presented on platforms without any plastic covering in order to improve the visitor experience, providing a better view and allowing visitors to take photos without glare. The exhibition also has a photo stand to take a picture with a giant Playmobil figure.
There are also other medium-sized figures to set the scene; and, to make the visit more fun, an interactive game that consists of finding in each diorama a figure that represents a complete anachronism in relation to the rest.
The scenes recreated are the following: Port Royal (Jamaica, in the 17th century), The Thousand and One Nights (Baghdad), Roma Vinci (conquest of Germania by the Romans between 12 BC and 16 AD) and the African Savannah (Masai Mara Natural Reserve-Serengeti National Park).
During the exhibition period, Playmobil boxes will be raffled among attendees.
