ARCHIVED - Velez-Malaga was the third hottest place in Spain yesterday
The Andalucía town hit highs of over 34ºC on Monday May 30

While showers are expected in parts of the Andalusian region this week, it didn’t stop Vélez-Málaga from once again coming in the list of the top 10 hottest places in Spain on May 30.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the temperature at the hottest part of the day in Vélez-Málaga, 5pm, reached 34.1ºC, making it the 3rd hottest place in the country.

The hottest place in Spain was Xativa in Valencia, where thermometers recorded a maximum of 34.6ºC. The towns of Abanilla and Cieza in Murcia also came in the top 10, as did Elche, Orihuela and Rojales in Alicante province.
Temperatures are expected to remain steady at this high level all week.
