Visor Fest leaves Murcia for new home in Valencia in 2025
Continued obstacles in Murcia have eventually proven to much for the promoters
Visor Fest is an alternative music festival which has been held in Murcia for the past three years, but as of 2025 the promoters, a Murcian company named Monkey Pro, have decided to move the two day musical celebrations to Valencia.
Monkey Pro have stated that it is with a "divided heart" that they have decided to make the change between regions. However, the obstacles that have been tackled over the past few years have proven too much for the festival organisers to contend with.
For example, in the last edition, the festival underwent a change of location by decision of the City Council, going from being held in the La Fica venue to a space in Nueva Condomina.
Following the relocation of concerts and festivals this year, Monkey Pro has taken the initiative to create its own venue in the vicinity of Nueva Condomina, called Espacio Norte, which will open in 2025 with a capacity to accommodate up to 25,000 attendees.
The promoters stated that "2024 has been particularly complicated. The last-minute setbacks that have got out of hand have been a bigger challenge than expected. Despite all our efforts, these obstacles have left their mark, and now it's time to take a breath and rethink the path."
Monkey Pro added that "this is not a goodbye, but a see you later. We have not given up on the idea that the Visor Fest will one day return to Murcia, the city that welcomed it with open arms and turned it into the unique festival it is today."
The festival has had a positive impact on the Region of Murcia over the years. The festival won the award in 2023 for best music festival in the Region, and great bands such as Suede, Flaming Lips and Echo & the Bunnymen have all come to Murcia and played because of the festival.
Each edition of the Visor Fest has been a reflection of the love of alternative music that the promoters and fans alike share, and each festival takes a lot of work from many people to be successful. This festival in particular will be missed in the Region and hopefully in the future the obstacles, such as those put forward by local Council last year, can be resolved and the music can return to Murcia.
