Young girl rescued after getting stuck in washing machine in Andalucia

Firefighters in Torre del Mar freed an eight-year-old after she became trapped inside an appliance

On Monday March 10, at around 5.55pm, an eight-year-old girl found herself in a bit of a predicament when her legs became stuck inside a washing machine at her home on Calle Garita in Torre del Mar (Vélez-Málaga). The appliance's door was open, but she had somehow managed to wedge herself inside and couldn't free herself. Apparently, she had been playing hide and seek but unfortunately her leg became stuck in one of the blades.

In response to a call received by the 112 Emergency Service, the Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium (CPB) of Vélez-Málaga, along with local police and health workers, rushed to the scene. The CPB, known for handling such emergencies, carefully dismantled the washing machine to release the girl, while she was kept calm by her father's mobile phone.

After about 50 minutes, thanks to their effort, the firefighters successfully freed the young girl and she emerged unscathed. She only had bruises on her ankle and knee.

One firefighter said, "we've all been children and we've played, but this is the first time I've seen something like this, it's not a very normal thing.

Luckily, this unusual mishap had a happy ending, thanks to the quick response of emergency services.
