A 21-year-old Czech tourist is in intensive care in Palma after being stabbed in the chest outside a nightclub in Magaluf in the early hours of Saturday morning. A 43-year-old British man has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

 

The trouble is said to have started with an argument inside a club near the Punta Ballena strip on Avda. Pere Vaquer Ramis. Both men were thrown out by bouncers, but the row carried on outside, and at around 5.15am the Briton allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the Czech man in the chest. He collapsed to the ground, bleeding heavily, while the suspect ran off.

 

The victim was rushed straight to Son Espases Hospital, where he remains in intensive care with serious injuries.

 

Security cameras had captured the confrontation both inside and outside the venue, and police used that footage, along with witness descriptions, to build a picture of the suspect. He was eventually tracked down late on Saturday in a car park, where an officer reportedly recognised him from the CCTV images. The Guardia Civil made the arrest shortly afterwards.

 

The 43-year-old remained in custody over the weekend and was due to appear in court this morning. It's not yet known whether he was on holiday in Mallorca or living there.
