British teen boards wrong flight in Menorca and ends up alone in Milan
15-year-old boy vanishes at the airport and flies to Italy without a ticket or passport

The 15-year-old had been due to fly back to London Stansted with his family on a TUI flight on Monday morning, but somehow got lost in the terminal before boarding. His parents raised the alarm when they realised he was missing, prompting Spanish police to launch a full-scale search at Mahón airport.
Officers reviewed security footage and were shocked to discover the boy had managed to bypass checks and board a different plane entirely. He had flown to Milan Malpensa on an easyJet flight without any travel documents or even a boarding pass.
According to a spokesperson for the Policia Nacional in Mallorca, “Officers checked cameras in the departures area and saw the teenager had managed to get onto a flight to Milan.” The airport’s child alert system was triggered but later stood down once his whereabouts were confirmed.
An investigation is now underway to understand how the boy passed through security and boarded a plane without being stopped. One airport insider suggested he may have slipped through after the boarding gate had closed and ground staff had already left their positions.
An easyJet spokesperson said, “We are investigating with the airport and our ground handling provider at Mahón how a young passenger was able to travel unaccompanied on the wrong flight to Milan this morning. The passenger was met by our team and the local authorities in Milan and we have provided travel arrangements for a family member to meet them today. We remain in touch with the family to offer our support.”
Thankfully, he arrived safely in Milan and was unharmed. It is understood the boy’s mother was flying out to Italy later the same day to bring him back to the UK.
