ARCHIVED - Cadiz refuses to close beaches at night to reduce Covid transmission
Most coastal regions in the province of Cádiz have ignored Andalusia government’s advice to restrict access to beaches after 11pm
Several coastal municipalities in the province of Cádiz have refused to close their beaches at night, despite being asked to do so by the regional government.
The authorities in Andalusia proposed several measures to stop the spread of Covid in the region last Tuesday (July 20) and one of the requests was to close beaches between 11pm and 7am in order to prevent young people from gathering and hosting botellones at night.
Some local councils, like the Town Hall in the city of Málaga, complied almost immediately, but in the province of Cádiz, only one coastal municipality, Puerto de Santa María, has agreed to enforce the measure.
