CHS and Mazarrón Town Council discuss flood risk at Camposol
The council has presented proposals aimed at reducing the risk of flooding from the Los Aznares rambla

Representatives from Mazarrón Town Council have met with the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS), Murcia’s water authority, to discuss ongoing concerns about flooding from the Los Aznares rambla, which always affects parts of the Camposol residential area during periods of heavy rain.
During the meeting, Mazarrón Town Council presented a technical proposal intended to reduce the risk of flooding from the rambla, the dry riverbed that is near the urbanisation. The two sides also reviewed the situation in the affected areas and discussed the responsibilities of the different public authorities involved.
The issue has previously been examined by a technical working group that included experts from the Regional Government of Murcia. Council representatives also requested an update on several cases that have been referred to the CHS and are still awaiting technical reports.
Following the meeting, the CHS said both administrations had agreed to continue working together on the issue, stating that they had expressed their “willingness to maintain the necessary institutional and technical coordination to continue addressing these issues within the remit of each administration”.
Flooding has been a long-standing concern for residents of Camposol, with heavy rainfall on several occasions causing water to overflow from the Rambla de los Aznares and affect nearby homes and infrastructure. The latest meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to identify measures that could help reduce future flood risk.
