Community volunteers repair Camposol potholes as road project advances

Much needed advances are taking place on Camposol thanks to both locals and officials at the town hall

A dedicated team of four volunteers from the community group Green Fingers has stepped up to improve road safety in Camposol by filling in 14 large and small potholes with tarmac.

Their efforts were made easier thanks to the generous loan of a wacker plate from the hire and pool shop on B Sector, a gesture for which Green Fingers has expressed sincere gratitude.

The cost of the tarmac alone exceeded €200, covered entirely by donations from the group’s bucket collection. Residents are encouraged to support their local gardening groups, as every contribution helps enhance the community.

Beyond these volunteer-led repairs, Camposol is finally making headway on its long-awaited dual carriageway project. Mazarrón Town Council has approved the repairs and completion of the main road running through Sectors C and D, with an increased budget of €4.56 million.

The project, initially launched in 2021, was delayed due to legal disputes. However, with court challenges now dismissed and road conditions deteriorating further following recent heavy rains, the Town Hall has prioritised the work, aiming to accelerate the process.

In addition to the road project, the council’s notifications process is progressing well to formalise the municipal takeover of the Camposol urbanisation, and will start handing out the notifications to homeowners on Sector D starting from Tuesday March 18. This move will allow for significant improvements in infrastructure, including better-maintained roads and enhanced street lighting, benefiting residents in the long term.
