ARCHIVED - Heavy rain and thunderstorms, but sun next weekend: Andalusia weather forecast March 21-27
The region of Andalucía is set to experience intense rains for much of this week, but there will be periods of sunshine, especially on Saturday and Sunday
Weather in Andalucía on Thursday March 24
Andalucía is set to experience a change in the weather across most of the region – a change for the worse despite the upcoming arrival of spring. After a couple of days of average temperatures and partially cloudy skies this weekend, we can expect widespread rain this week.
The beginning of the week, Monday March 21, will come with clouds and scattered precipitation, and not a single area of the autonomous community will be spared, as forecast by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). There will even be localised thunderstorms in some areas, while temperatures will range from a maximum of 19ºC to a minimum of 5ºC.
However, there will also be periods of sunshine as we go through the week, when the clouds break up and give some respite from the storms. Next weekend, on Saturday March 26 and Sunday March 27, there should even be sunny spells across almost the whole region of Andalucía.

More rain coming this spring
Winter in Andalucía was uncharacteristically short on rain, but this spring, according to the territorial delegate of the Aemet for Andalucía, Ceuta and Melilla, Luis Fernando López Cotín, who explained that in the next quarter – April, May, June – temperatures are expected to be above average but “normal” compared to what happened in the previous quarter.
This includes substantial rainfall which, although it “will not alleviate the drought”, it “may be annoying” in terms of the upcoming Easter Week celebrations and the Seville Fair.
While Storm Celia blew through Andalucía and Spain, bringing Saharan dust and muddy rain the likes of which have not been seen for decades, the “significant rainfall” in Malaga was not matched in the rest of the region enough to top up aquifers to where they should be.

- Tuesday March 22: Min 5ºC; Max 19ºC
- Wednesday March 23: Min 5ºC; Max 22ºC
- Thursday March 24: Min 3ºC; Max 19ºC
- Friday March 25: Min 5ºC; Max 19ºC
- Saturday March 26: Min 5ºC; Max 20ºC
- Sunday March 27: Min 5ºC; Max 20ºC
