ARCHIVED - Hospitalisations fall and the 7-day incidence rate shows promise: Andalusia Covid update January 10
The 7-day incidence rate is 627.5 cases, which could show a change in the curve if this continues across the week
14-day incidence rate in Andalucía since March 2020
Andalusia has added 11,588 new positive cases of the coronavirus and thirteen deaths in the last two days (Covid data is not supplied on Sundays), while the 14-day cumulative incidence rate has risen by 4.4 points to 1,647.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in fourteen days, according to the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalucía.
New infections
In the last 48 hours Andalucía has added 11,588 new positive cases of the coronavirus, which is slightly lower than the numbers recorded last Friday and Thursday (13,713 and 12,341 respectively). This brings the total number of people infected since the start of the pandemic up to 1,068,280.
Cumulative incidence rate
As of Monday January 10, the 14-day cumulative incidence rate has risen by 4.4 points in the last two days to 1,647.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, up 46 points since Friday.
The 7-day incidence rate is 627.5 cases, so if similar data is maintained for the rest of this week it could mean a change in the curve and the beginning of the end of this sixth wave.
Hospitalisations
The total number of people hospitalised by coronavirus in Andalucía has fallen by 18 people in the last two days, so there are 1,471 hospitalised in total, of whom 224 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The curve of hospitalised patients in this sixth wave continues to rise, although the increase recorded today is notably milder than on previous days, according to data from the Junta de Andalucía.
Deaths
Thirteen more people died from coronavirus this Sunday and Monday, while the total number of deaths since the pandemic began is now 11,634.
Recovered
Since our update on Friday last week, almost 10,000 more people have recovered from Covid, taking the total up to 839,245.
Vaccinations
In Andalucía, 82.3% of people over 5 years of age have been fully vaccinated and 86.6% have had their first jab, while booster jabs are now being offered to those over the age of 52 if they make an appointment.
