ARCHIVED - Incidence rate drops again but ICU admissions rise: Andalusia Covid update April 1
Just when one of the Covid stats start going in the right direction, another one jumps back up again

14-day incidence rate in Andalucía since March 2020
The number of infections in Andalucía is beginning to drop once again, as is the incidence rate, after both Covid indicators started creeping back up again over the last week or two. However, it’s now the turn of the number of patients admitted to the ICU to climb up again, a figure which had up until now been falling steadily.
It’s worth remembering that the Andalusian regional government has switched to reporting twice a week – on Tuesdays and Fridays – on the situation of the coronavirus pandemic, instead of daily.
New infections
Andalucía has reported this Friday a total of 4,962 positive results for Covid-19 registered in the last three days, since the last update.
The 4,962 infections on Tuesday come after 6,568 on Tuesday, 5,129 on Friday, 5,433 on Thursday and 1,350 on Wednesday.
By provinces, Malaga is still the one with the most positive cases with 1,323, followed by Seville with 823; Cadiz with 789; Córdoba with 582; Almería with 433; Granada with 376; Huelva with 371 and Jaén with 265.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate in the region stands at 290.9 per 100,000 inhabitants, down 28.6 points from Tuesday.
Hospitalisations
As of Friday April 1, Andalucía recorded a drop of 202 patients hospitalised with coronavirus compared to Tuesday, to a total of 349, but ICU admissions actually rose for the first time in a long time by 14 to 71.
Deaths
A further 38 deaths from coronavirus have been recorded in the region, of which 18 were in Seville, four in Malaga, Granada, Jaén and Córdoba, two in Almería and one in Huelva.
Vaccinations
In Andalucía, 7,586,376 people (89.5% of the regional population) have received at least one dose of the Covid vaccine, around 3,000 more than at the last count, while 7,392,966 people (87.3% of the regional population) have received the full number of doses they are entitled to – whether two or three or four.
