International arrest warrant issued in Spain for the suspected murderer of John George
John George vanished on December 14, before his body was discovered on January 7
An international arrest warrant was issued yesterday by the Spanish authorities for the man suspected of murdering Belfast resident John George. So far the National Police of Spain have held one man in relation to the murder.
The Czech Republic national, aged 32, has since been released on bail by a judge on January 10, 2025. However, the man has been told that he is being investigated as an alleged accomplice in the murder.
The man’s lawyer told local media after his release on bail there wasn’t a single incriminating piece of evidence against his client.
Today, Spanish authorities confirmed three separate arrest warrants were now out for the individual suspected of carrying out the killing. At the Valencian Community’s High Court, an official stated that the magistrate “has today issued three orders against the alleged material author of the death of the British citizen whose body was discovered in Rojales”.
The suspect’s whereabouts as of this moment is unknown. Court officials said they could not offer any details about the wanted man’s age or nationality at this stage.
John George vanished on December 14, 2024, and relatives reported him missing when he failed to catch a scheduled flight home four days later. John’s brother Darren travelled to Alicante to help in the search with their parents, Billy and Sharon, and sister Courtney and Caitlin, along with up to 50 friends and wider family from Northern Ireland.
John’s body was discovered on January 7, 2025, hidden under some overgrown lemon trees around five miles from the town of Rojales, near Torrevieja.
His brother has since stated that he believes that John George was shot dead for refusing to work for a crime gang after being trafficked from Northern Ireland to Spain. The investigation is still ongoing however, and the arrest warrants should help bring an end to this terrible saga with the capture of the person responsible for the murder.
