Murcia Airport regains its Barcelona flights with Volotea
Corvera Airport is resuming this route with two weekly frequencies during the summer
Volotea has resumed its direct flight service between Region of Murcia International Airport and Barcelona-El Prat Airport, with operations having restarted on July 4.
The connection is currently up and running again twice a week as part of the airline’s enhanced summer offering.
According to Volotea, this popular domestic route is set to expand in the coming winter season, increasing to three weekly flights to meet growing demand.
The Barcelona route was discontinued at the end of May and initially it seemed, would not return as it was not deemed profitable.
Now, Volotea appear to have done a U-turn and decided to resume this connection, which was first launched at the end of 2023.
For the current season, then, Volotea has scheduled nearly 40,000 seats on the Barcelona-Murcia flight route, an increase of 17% compared to 2024.
“Resuming flights between Murcia and Barcelona allows us to give continuity to a connection that has proven to be highly valued by those travelling between the two regions, with almost 50,000 passengers transported since we started operations,” said Gabriel Schmilovich, Volotea’s director of strategy.
He also expressed gratitude towards local institutions and travellers. “We would especially like to thank the Region of Murcia and its inhabitants for the great welcome, as well as the Region of Murcia International Airport for its constant support and collaboration.”
Since beginning operations at Corvera in 2019, Volotea has carried more than 210,000 passengers through the airport and maintains a high level of customer satisfaction, with over 96% of travellers recommending the airline.
Volotea’s services from Murcia include domestic connections to Bilbao and Asturias, along with an international route to Marseille. From its Barcelona base, the airline offers flights to several destinations across Spain, France (including Bordeaux, Lille, Nantes and Marseille) and Italy, such as Ancona, Verona and Olbia.
