Murcia weekend weather forecast June 12-15: Calima and calor for the Costa Cálida!

There has been calima Saharan dust clogging up our skies for the last few days and this – along with the heat – looks set to continue this weekend

This weekend’s weather forecast from the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the Region of Murcia is for another calm, slightly cloudy and dusty but hot few days, helping the Costa Cálida live up to its name of the ‘Warm Coast’!

Thursday June 12 will see fairly cloudy or clear skies with occasional high clouds, according to Aemet. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, while winds will be light and variable, tending to blow from the southeast in the afternoon.

On Friday 13, skies will be fairly cloudy with some high cloud in the afternoon. Cloud cover is expected in the northwestern sierras during the day, where “occasional thunderstorms cannot be ruled out”. There may also be more calima dust in suspension as there has all week. Temperatures will show little change and winds will remain light and variable, again tending to come from the southeast in the afternoon.

Saturday 14 begins with fairly cloudy skies, becoming more overcast with high clouds inland and more calima dust as the day progresses. Daytime cloudiness is expected in the northern mountain ranges, with occasional thunderstorms possible once again. Minimum temperatures will rise slightly or remain unchanged, while maximum temperatures are expected to increase.

Similarly, on Sunday 15, there will be intervals of cloudy skies, with occasional showers and thunderstorms developing over the inland mountain ranges during the afternoon. Despite all these possible rainstorms in the far northwest of Murcia, the rest of the Region should remain unaffected, enjoying warm, dry and sunny conditions.
