ARCHIVED - Off-duty doctor saves life of Seville taxi driver after he suffers heart attack at the wheel
The doctor had taken a taxi to work at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital when the hair-raising incident occurred
A Spanish taxi driver survived a heart attack at the wheel thanks to the quick-thinking actions of the sole passenger, a doctor on his way to work at Seville's Virgen del Rocío Hospital.
Shortly into the journey on Tuesday morning, November 29, the driver lost consciousness and crashed into two parked vehicles.
The doctor quickly jumped into action, calling Seville Local Police and pulling the 53-year-old driver from the vehicle with the help of other motorists who had witnessed the crash.
He then began to perform CPR manoeuvres, recovering his vital signs on two occasions.

Local police soon arrived at the scene and assisted the doctor having located a defibrillator in the area. The taxi driver momentarily regained consciousness, although he arrested a further two times.
On the arrival of the 061 emergency medical team, the patient had regained vital signs and, once stabilised by the medical team, was transferred to a nearby hospital.
Just over a month ago, an off-duty policeman from Jerez, Cádiz, saved the life of a woman who suffered a heart attack in the street. Officer Juan José, who had recently completed an advanced first aid course, spent 15 minutes performing resuscitation manoeuvres, key to saving the woman's recovery.
"She wasn't breathing. After 10 minutes we noticed that her pulse was coming a little. It was a great joy," said the officer.
