ARCHIVED - Rivers in danger of overflowing in Estepona as Malaga is on orange alert for rainfall
The Costa del Sol town has had a whopping 167 litres of rainfall per square metre in the last 12 hours
Estepona Town Hall in Malaga has activated its Municipal Emergency Plan due to the extreme amount rainfall that is currently being recorded in the municipality, and has asked the public to remain cautious when travelling on the roads.
Town Mayor José María García Urbano has also explained that the rains have caused the risk of rivers overflowing, forcing him to close access in and around Estepona’s waterways.

Meanwhile, emergency services are working in a coordinated manner to protect and prevent any disaster situations, and “at the moment we can say that the city’s infrastructures have not suffered any damage in this heavy storm”.
Mr García Urbano also took the opportunity to thank the staff who are working on the all-important safety and prevention tasks, and once again appealed to the public to avoid travelling in areas close to rivers.
