Teen tourist dies in tragic fall from Ibiza hotel

The 19-year-old reportedly fell while trying to enter her room through the balcony

A 19-year-old female tourist has died after falling from the fourth floor of a hotel in Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza.

The young woman, who was Italian and of Turkish origin, is believed to have fallen from her room’s balcony early on Sunday April 27. According to investigators, she may have been trying to enter her room from a shared part of the hotel at the time.

Her body was discovered around 9am by a hotel employee. Emergency services were called, but there was nothing they could do.

The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation and is working to establish exactly what happened. The results of an autopsy are still pending, and officers have not ruled out the possibility that she may have been under the influence of alcohol or other substances at the time of the fall.

Sources close to the investigation have said that, at this stage, it appears to have been a tragic accident. The hotel and local authorities have not released any further information, and the young woman’s name has not been made public.

The incident has shocked staff and other guests at the hotel, in one of Ibiza’s most popular resort towns, which is especially busy in spring and summer with international tourists.
