The incidence rate in Andalucía has resumed its downward trend today after a brief and worrying rise over the weekend

14-day incidence rate in Andalucía since March 2020

The cumulative incidence rate of Covid-19 in Andalucía has fallen again after a spike yesterday, while 9,703 infections and 29 deaths have been recorded, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health.

New infections

Today’s 9,703 infections occurred 24 hours after an upturn in the number of infected people. Specifically, there were 16,498 infections yesterday, compared to 10,886 on Saturday.

Cumulative incidence rate

The 14-day cumulative incidence rate, which had been falling continuously for six consecutive days and then suddenly rose slightly yesterday, has once again begun to fall.

It went down by 21.6 points in the last 24 hours, after going up 47.2 points in the last two days, and now stands at 1,451.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Hospitalisations

The Andalusian Regional Minister of Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre, has asked for “patience” from those who point out the overload that Primary Care services have been enduring during the current sixth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, as, according to him, the pressure on hospitals and health centres in the region will be reduced “in a week or 10 days”.

Deaths

In the last 24 hours, 29 people died from Covid, more than double the number of fatalities from the previous 48-hour period.

Vaccinations

In terms of the number of people vaccinated in the Andalucía region, 82.7% of the population over the age of 5 – a total of 7,001,463 people – have received both coronavirus shots, while 87.9% – 7,439,855 people – have had at least their first dose.
