ARCHIVED - Águilas opens major vaccination point in Recinto Ferial
Those with less mobility were vaccinated in their vehicles
A larger volume of residents can be processed at the recinto, which has plenty of parking and has been prepared to carry out mass PCR testing in advance.
Mayoress Mari Carmen Moreno, visited the opening of the installations for vaccination on Tuesday, confirming that "until now, vaccinations had been carried out at the Águilas Norte Health Center, but this is not suitable for larger-scale vaccinations. However, the Recinto Ferial, used for the weekly market, has ample parking, is centrally located and is also fully conditioned, as it was prepared for large-scale PCR testing ”.
The health authorities in the Region of Murcia are on course to begin administering vaccines to the 70-79 age group in April, according to regional government Covid spokesman Jaime Pérez.
Given the current supply of vaccines, it's unlikely that those in the 60+ age group will be vaccinated before May/June, although the Health Minister also said this week that 4.8 million Pfizer vaccines are due to be delivered to Spain in April, more than doubling the current level of supply.
