ARCHIVED - Andalusia to remain at health alert level zero for entire summer
From September, the health alert level in every municipality in Andalucía will be reviewed on a quarterly basis

The Junta de Andalucía has decided to keep the whole community at alert level 0 for coronavirus for the entire summer season, despite a recent rebound in figures and suggestions from health authorities that a ‘silent seventh wave’ may be creeping in.
The measure will come into force at midnight on Thursday June 23 and remain in place until September 22, and essentially means that all Covid-related restrictions, such as capacity limitations and early closures for bars and restaurants, will be lifted.
The regional health authorities said the decision was made after the Public Health Alert Committee examined the pandemic data from the eight municipalities, including the cumulative incidence rate in over 60s, the number of daily infections, hospitalisations and ICU admissions.
In the last update, Andalucía as a whole reported a total of 4,031 new coronavirus cases in the space of just four days, although it maintains the lowest cumulative incidence rate in the country, well below the Spanish national average.
Nevertheless, after meeting with the Committee of Experts on June 22, Andalucía’s Minister of Health, Jesus Aguirre, confirmed that from now on, the review of alert levels for the community will be done quarterly, unless there is a significant change in the epidemiological situation.
