Corvera Airport welcomes symbolic 1,200th flight in celebration of the 1,200th anniversary of Murcia city
In a fortuitous coincidence, the Ryanair arrival from Birmingham marked a unique tribute to the city’s historic milestone

A routine Ryanair flight took on special significance this morning as Murcia welcomed flight number 1,200 from Birmingham at the Region of Murcia International Airport in Corvera, coinciding symbolically with the 1,200th anniversary of the city’s founding.

During the short ceremony, the officials presented ambassador diplomas and unveiled a commemorative plaque in recognition of the occasion.

The “Murcia 1200” project, led by Murcia City Council, commemorates the city's foundation under Abderraman II with a year-long programme of cultural, historical and tourism-related events. This morning’s tribute at the airport formed part of those efforts to raise international awareness and strengthen Murcia’s cultural identity.
