ARCHIVED - Long-awaited extension of Santa Ana Comarcal Hospital in Motril, Granada
The construction of a third building, which will be attached to the existing structures at the Motril hospital, will be funded by the regional government in Andalucía
A 6-million-euro investment from the Andalusian government will turn the Santa Ana Comarcal Hospital, located in the municipality of Motril, in to one of the most advanced medical facilities in the region of Andalucía with the construction of the new North building.
The hospital will be extended with a third building which will be attached to the existing two and which will provide much needed extra space, offering better medical assistance to the residents of Motril, located in the province of Granada.
Furthermore, the new North building will free up more space for patients and readjust the double rooms for individual use. The extension will also provide more space for the treatment of patients with chronic illnesses and, once the construction work is finished, the Public Health area, which is currently located in the Motril-Centro health centre, will be moved back to the main hospital.
Building work on the hospital should be starting in the next few days and some access points to the healthcare facility will be modified to facilitate construction work and to avoid any risks for patients and staff.
The extension has been well-received by the municipality’s Mayoress, Luisa García Chamorro, who mentioned the 6.5 million euro project on social media, stating that the “long-awaited” expansion of the Santa Ana Comarcal Hospital was finally here after years of “unfulfilled promises”.
