ARCHIVED - Loose power line believed to have caused San Roque forest fire
The first wildfire in the Campo de Gibraltar area in Cádiz (Andalusia) since the high-risk season began burned about half a hectare of land.
A forest fire in the El Chapatal area of San Roque, Cádiz, on Tuesday, the first of the season in the area, was caused by a loose power line, the Infoca forest fire fighting service has reported.
The fire was reported in the early afternoon and affected half a hectare before firefighters managed to put it out at about 6.15 pm.
Infoca has published photos on social media of the dangling cable that caused the incident and stated that the regional Environmental department will be investigating the case to determine whether it was down to negligence or an accident.
