ARCHIVED - Newborn puppies rescued from foundations of home in Marbella
The adorable pups had become trapped in the basement of a house in Nueva Andalucía after being hidden there by their mother
Two tiny newborn puppies have been given a second chance by firefighters in Marbella after becoming trapped inside a hole in the foundations of a house in Nueva Andalucía
According to a statement from the town hall, the mother had hidden the adorable pups in the basement of the house "guided by her instinct to protect her offpsring", after giving birth to a litter of 11.
The hole was reportedly so small, she was unable to get the rest of the pups inside, and when the homeowner realised the mother and pups' plight, they immediately contacted San Pedro Alcántara fire station.
A team of three firefighters were sent to the house at around 9pm on Friday October 29, fearing the puppies "might die of starvation".
The crew dug a tunnel through which they could reach the newborns and 40 minutes later, successfully managed to rescue them both unharmed and return them to their anxious mother.
