ARCHIVED - Rescue workers find body of man missing at sea in Nijar, Almeria following five day search
The man had disappeared while swimming off the coast of Nijar, Almeria, last week.
Following an intense five-day search operation, rescue workers have found the body of the 23-year-old man who went missing while swimming off the coast of Almeria last week.
According to the Guardia Civil, the body has been visually identified as being the missing man’s, however a post mortem will be required to officially confirm the man’s identity.
The man had disappeared while swimming in the Cabo de Gata area last Tuesday, May 25 and friend he had gone to the beach with reported him missing after losing sight of the man around an hour after he got into the water, sparking a helicopter and boat rescue operation lasting five days.
A Marine Rescue boat sadly found the man’s body yesterday, May 30, before transferring him to the port of Almeria at around 1.50 pm.
Members of the Guardia Civil, Red Cross and Marine Rescue had taken part in the search to find the man and family members say the victim had experience swimming in the sea.
