ARCHIVED - Motorist attacked with machete in attempted robbery on the AP-7 in Mijas, Malaga
The driver was pursued by another vehicle before being attacked in broad daylight at the Calahonda toll on the Costa de Sol
Malaga police are hunting for a machete-wielding motorist who followed a 33-year-old male driver on the AP-7 in Mijas, Malaga before attacking him in what is believed to be an attempted robbery.
The terrifying incident occurred at around 6.30pm on Friday February 24 when, after pursuing the driver for a short period of time, the attacker got out of his car and struck the victim with a machete at the Calahonda toll at kilometre 200 of the motorway.
Emergencias 112 Andalucía was alerted by a road maintenance team who found the injured man.
He was taken to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella with undisclosed wounds caused by a sharp and heavy object and the Guardia Civil has launched an investigation to locate and identify the suspect.
